Today I am writing a post about a painting of my favourite Spanish painter, "Niña en la playa" (Girl on the beach) a glowing canvas by Joaquin Sorolla that was sold yesterday for 1.729.652 €, an amount exceeding its estimated price.
Painted in 1910, this picture remained for 50 years in a private collection and was offered for the first time to the highest bidder.
This work was one of the few he painted in Valencia in 1910, a year that the artist spent travelling around Spain.
He painted a picture full of life in which a little girl appears in closeup walking on a wet sandy beach with a boat and a fisherman seen in the distance.
Just finished watching the Worldcup match between Germany & Spain. Congrats to your boys on getting to finals! I will be rooting for them on Sunday :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ivana for your congrats and support to La Roja (the Spanish team). Let us hope that Paul, the octopus, is right again and Spain wins the final jajaja! Many hugs!
