25 CUTE SUMMER QUOTES

“Summer was here again. Summer, summer, summer. I loved and hated summers. Summers had a logic all their own and they always brought something out in me. Summer was supposed to be about freedom and youth and no school and possibilities and adventure and exploration. Summer was a book of hope. That’s why I loved and hated summers. Because they made me want to believe.” ― Benjamin Alire Sáenz

“One must maintain a little bittle of summer, even in the middle of winter.” ― Henry David Thoreau

“I almost wish we were butterflies and liv’d but three summer days – three such days with you I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain.” ― John Keats

“Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.” ― Henry James

“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.” ― John Steinbeck

“I know I am but summer to your heart, and not the full four seasons of the year.” ― Edna St. Vincent Millay

“A man says a lot of things in summer he doesn’t mean in winter.” ― Patricia Briggs, Dragon Blood

“it’s a smile, it’s a kiss, it’s a sip of wine … it’s summertime!” ― Kenny Chesney

“Spring passes and one remembers one’s innocence. Summer passes and one remembers one’s exuberance. Autumn passes and one remembers one’s reverence. Winter passes and one remembers one’s perseverance.” ― Yoko Ono

“Summer will end soon enough, and childhood as well.” ― George R.R. Martin

“My old grandmother always used to say, Summer friends will melt away like summer snows, but winter friends are friends forever.” ― George R.R. Martin

“One swallow does not make a summer, neither does one fine day; similarly one day or brief time of happiness does not make a person entirely happy.” ― Aristotle

“If it could only be like this always – always summer, always alone, the fruit always ripe and Aloysius in a good temper…” ― Evelyn Waugh

“Summertime is always the best of what might be.” ― Charles Bowden

“Summer, after all, is a time when wonderful things can happen to quiet people. for those few months, you’re not required to be who everyone thinks you are, and that cut-grass smell in the air and the chance to dive into the deep end of a pool give you a courage you don’t have the rest of the year. you can be grateful and easy, with no eyes on you, and no past. summer just opens the door and lets you out.” ― Deb Caletti

“Summer bachelors like summer breezes, are never as cool as they pretend to be.” ― Nora Ephron

“Why is summer mist romantic and autumn mist just sad?” ― Dodie Smith

“Summer’s lease hath all too short a date.” ― William Shakespeare

“Some of the best memories are made in flip flops.” ― Kellie Elmore

“One benefit of Summer was that each day we had more light to read by.” ― Jeannette Walls

“In summer the empire of insects spreads.” ― Adam Zagajewski

“It’s summer and time for wandering…” ― Kellie Elmore

“That familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.” ― F Scott Fitzgerald

“August rain: the best of the summer gone, and the new fall not yet born. The odd uneven time.” ― Sylvia Plath

“Watching the summer close is like watching a good kid die for no apparent reason.” ― Darnell Lamont Walker

And with this post I want to wish from the blog Sangria, Sol y Siesta a very

CLOSED FOR REST OF THE STAFF (THAT'S ME!)

See you in autumn!

I AM TAKING A GAP SUMMER

I had not planned it but I have just decided a few hours ago that I'm going to take a gap summer, the truth is that I have several trips breaks in mind and would have to be doing several stop, going and coming from my (5) blogs, so I thought the best  thing I should do is to make a summer break and fully enjoy the summer, my trips (to Lisbon, Granada, Ireland, Alicante .....), my reading of a lot of books waiting for me to read them for months, and of course, to enjoy my friends and family, quietly and without additional obligations that would prevent me from doing and enjoy it fully.

In some of the blogs (like this one or the photoblog)  I have been posting even more from time to time, each time, so if I have little spare times I will take the opportunity to write more entries and store them and then when I come back here, to post them. At the most, maybe I could keep on reading and commenting on other blogger friends’s entries.

In short ...... I need time for many things and if I keep on updating the blogs, this will prevent me from doing them (something I do not feel like doing right now) and besides, I think that the summer is to enjoy it and that's just what I want to do!

So, happy summer to all of you and
I will be back here after the summer!

A SHORT NATURAL BREAK IN HUESCA

I am escaping for a few days to Huesca,  a place from which everyone agree to say that it's a real natural paradise, I am going to check if this is true and to take a lot of photos, meanwhile. When I am back here I'll tell and show you! Until then, hugs and kisses to all friends and visitors of Sangria, Sol y Siesta's blog! See you!

CLOSED FOR REST

For a few days there will be no new posts, because I'll be on holiday on the beach, to relax and unwind from my daily job and from my blogger work, because making and keeping updated three blogs it is not a simple work and even more if you are a conscientious and a perfectionist person like me  (lol) and although I really enjoy posting and it gratifies me very much about writing articles, researching news and posting my photos in the photoblog, it also takes me up a lot of time and energy.

So for a few days I will devote to doing NO-THING, well, perhaps ..... I could read a book, stroll along the beach, taking pictures at sunsets, watch the boats rocking in the sea, eat, sleep, kick the alarm clock when I wake up in the morning...... ... hahahha ..... well, more or less, that's my whole idea.

But while I am resting, whoever wants to keep on walking through my three blogs, can keep doing it because they will be open wide for anyone who wants to visit them.

A big kiss and a hug and I'll be back in a few days!

STYLISH BLOGGER AWARD

Last weekend Semester in Spain , a lively and cheerful blog where you can find the adventures of a student in Granada (and his little bear Nippy, don't forget!) very kindly sent me this stylish award, which I received with happiness and much pleasure and now I am going to follow the rules of the game, just as she told me to do. Well, here I go Semester!

There are four rules and these are the following:

First rule: to thank and to link the blog which has sent you the award. Ok, this is easy:

Thanks Semester in Spain  for this beautiful (and elegant!) award. It is very nice and I am very honoured for this recognition Semester! It has been a pleasure to receive it!

Second rule: to tell seven things about you. Well, this was not so much easy at first, but then I started thinking the difficult thing was to choose only seven things about me, about  my likes or dislikes, but I will try to do my best!

1. I am crazy about travelling (really crazy!).

2. I love snapping at everything, in fact, I am nearly a photomaniac!

3. My favourite film is The quiet man, it is so romantic and fun. I think it is a little jewel film.

4. I hate routine and I am not afraid of changes at all, in fact, I like them.

5. I would like days could last longer than 24 hours. I would really like days would be like chewing gums and I could stretch them as much as possible.

6. My favourite season of the year is summer, I love sun and hot weather and beaches and light summer dresses and on the contrary, I can’t stand winter, in fact I hate cold and it nearly gets me angry sometimes.

7. I like (no, I would better say, I love) Italian food so much that I would never get tired of eating it.

Third rule: To share the award with 15 more blogs, recently discovered (do they have to be very recent Semester?). Anyway, I like to visit and follow all of these nice and very interesting blogs, and I want to share this award with all of them:

- Spain is my happy place, a nice blog of an American and lively woman living in Madrid now with her family (who knows where she will be living next?).

- Come, sit by my fire, a very smart blog (in all senses) which makes you think and at the same time it is very entertaining.

- Two crazy crafters, a lovely and very creative blog of two lovely women from the States, a mother and her daughter.

- From a yellow house in England, an interesting and entertaining blog of an expat American woman living in Britain.

- South of Watford, an interesting blog with many news about current Spain.

- Life in Culebron, this is a blog about two Britons and their experiences living in Culebron, a small village in Alicante.

- Petrolin50, a very nice blog if you likes Photography!

- Masquerade, a beautiful blog with beautiful messages in it, it is always worth to visit it.

- A vintage cottage home, a very beautiful and artistic blog from a special lady from Michigan.

- Glenni's Blog Page, the adventures of a lively Australian retired woman who likes to enjoy life.

- Graceful presence, a relaxing blog which makes you think and makes you feel relaxed.

- A view of Madrid, a foreign's view (or as he prefers to say: a guiri's view) of Madrid.

- Guardamar, a blog about the thoughts and impressions of an English man living in Spain.

- Head, eye and heart, a blog to visit if you like photography (and I do like very much!).

- I like nice life, a nice blog which makes you feel very relaxed just when you are visiting it.

- Erin all over, the adventurers, likes, dislikes obsessions and more of a young woman, but all of these things are told in a cheerful way.

And fourth and last rule: To contact them and tell them about the Award. OK!  I am going to leave just now and do it so right now! Bye, see you in a few days! I've got work to do!

I HAVE STARTED A PHOTOBLOG CALLED SNAPPING LIFE, PLEASE FEEL VERY WELCOME TO VISIT IT

It took me some time thinking of it but finally I decided to start this third blog, about my favourite hobby: Photography. The first blog came in October 2009 (El trolley de Nieves, it's about entertainment and current events), the second in April 2010 (Sangria, sol y siesta, the one we are in now), which was created to bring a more current and cultural image of Spain, getting far from the typical image that many foreigns still have about Spain related to "toros, flamenco and olé" and the third (and hopefully the last one, because blogs take you too much time to keep them updated!), it is just born, it is a photoblog (SNAPPING LIFE), which pretends to have few words but many photographs taken by me, which will show snippets of life on photographs that I have taken, or I will take in future about many different topics and locations.

I hope that friends and visitors who come here regularly and new visitors who comes here every day, will also find of interest this new blog and will go there to visit it whenever you want and where you will also, of course, be very welcome too.

As I have said this new blog is just new born (it has even two posts), but will gradually take more shape. Thank you very much for all your visits and comments always and I wait for you also in:

COME BACK HOME AND COME BACK WORK..... SNIFFF.........

Like many Spaniards on these dates, I am again back home and back to work (snifff ... ... ..), after a relaxing week's holiday in Santa Pola (Alicante), a pleasant tourist resort of fishermen, where many retired people (national and foreign) choose this place to spend their golden retirement.

The weather has been great, although a red alert has been in the last days of my stay there, along with a wave of heat that has pushed the temperatures up to 44 degrees in those lands of Valencia, though many other parts in Spain have been affected too and also there have been a mass visit of jellyfish (national and Portuguese).

But to be honest, next to the waves of the sea, all the heat waves are much more bearable, thanks to the pleasant and constant sea breeze that makes you look at the alarming news about the successive rises in the thermometer with tranquility. And about the jellyfish, I was very lucky and was able to return with no marks of them on my skin.

So for now I'll leave a picture here, which are not of the Perseids, as I planned to take because it was really complicated to get a  decent picture of the starry sky, but instead, I made a bunch of photos flavored beach so that when we start to suffer the post-summer holiday depression we can throw it away at the sight of a few beach pictures!

I AM GOING TO CROATIA FOR HOLIDAY

I am going for a few days holiday again (I have to say that I prefer to do many short trips, instead of a long one), but this time it is not a beach holiday. Now I'm going to Croatia, so these days will be more active and exciting, seeing and touring the whole country, with a stop at Montenegro. I was looking forward to going to Croatia, since a long time ago, so I will tell you about it and show you pictures of the trip when I’ll be back.

Many kisses and hugs to all of you! See you very soon!

I AM GOING TO BEACH FOR HOLIDAYS!

I am going on holiday to the beach, I'm going to rest, to read (which is what I have left over lately), to write, to take pictures, to walk, to enjoy the sun and the sea (I hope! Because my young local reporter, that is, my 12 years old nephew Ruben, told me this afternoon that there was prospect of rain ......), to enjoy with the family, to forget about the current political, economic and working situation which has burnt myself out lately (and here the sun has nothing to do with it!) and in short, I'm going to change for a week, the air of Madrid by the quiet and cosy fishing village of Santa Pola (Alicante), in the east of Spain.

So my friends, hugs and kisses and see you in one week!
